Pediatric dentistry focuses on providing dental care and guiding dentofacial development in children. An important part of pediatric dentistry is creating a positive experience for kids in the dental office setting. A great experience with the pediatric dentist is integral to equipping children for lifelong healthy habits and supporting strong oral health for a lifetime of beautiful smiles. Early dental visits also provide young patients with early detection and noninvasive treatment options. A child’s teeth and jaws are particularly essential to speech development, eating and digestive patterns, proper airway function, and maintaining space for permanent teeth.
We understand that every parent wants the best for their child, and our team is here to help families feel comfortable from the very first visit. Whether your little one is getting ready to meet the doctor after their first tooth comes in or is a school-aged child returning for routine care, we treat every child with patience and warmth so they look forward to each dental visit.
When to Schedule Your Child’s First Visit
The average age for a child’s first dental visit is around one year old, or within six months of their first tooth appearing. Don’t wait until there’s a concern — early visits help us monitor developing teeth, offer advice on brushing with the right toothpaste, and guide parents through each stage of their child’s oral health journey. Infants, toddlers, and older children all benefit from age-appropriate care, and our staff works hard to make every visit an excellent experience.
Comprehensive Oral Evaluation / Digital Radiographs
An oral evaluation is recommended every six (6) months to prevent cavities and other dental problems. Digital imaging is a valuable diagnostic tool used to identify decay, extra teeth, bone defects, tumors, cysts and check the progress of previous procedures. These routine evaluations are one of the most important services we provide for growing smiles, helping us catch small issues before they become bigger ones.
Cleaning
Regular cleanings help keep gums healthy and teeth cavity-free. A dental cleaning includes removal of tartar and plaque and polishing of the teeth to remove stains and prevent further buildup of plaque. Consistent cleanings over several years build the foundation for a healthy smile that can last a lifetime.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are made of a safe resin material which is applied to the surfaces of teeth (commonly permanent molars) to prevent cavities. The sealant material fills in the crevices of a tooth and “seals” off the tooth from cavity-causing agents like food and plaque. The teeth are prepared for the sealant application and the sealant is painted directly onto the chewing surface of each tooth and then hardens. Sealants are applied in one visit.
